Only private forest land in a Forest Legacy Area is eligible for the program. Landowners who are willing to sell their development rights are encouraged to apply during a sign-up period. At the end of a sign-up period, all applications will be evaluated and ranked. The highest ranked applications will enter the acquisition process. If negotiations produce acceptable easement terms, the easement will be acquired and recorded in the land records. If they do not produce acceptable terms, eminent domain will NOT be used. The standard attribute fields (area and perimeter) were added; as well as, project name. Once all parcels (polygons) were digitized, the data was imported into coverage format (using PC ArcInfo.) and built and cleaned to a scale tolerance of 1 : 24,000. All data was then checked for slivers and overshoots. If slivers and/or over shoots were found, they were fixed according to the initial tax maps and built and cleaned again for consistency. The data was then imported into rvc format using MicroImages TNT mips. The acreage field was recalculated within MicroImages TNT mips software. The rvc file was validated for consistency. And, all data was then exported to eoo format and finally converted to shapefile format for distribution.20020909Metadata imported.withheldMetadata imported.withheld20060914The DNR Forest Service supplied the GIS Section with a shape file of the McCain Forest Legacy easement property boundary . The shape file's projection was State Plane 27 feet. Using the projection wizard in ArcView 3.2, the shape file was reprojected to State Plane 83 meters. To verify the reprojection process, the reprojected shape file was displayed on top of the MdProperty View Worcester County tax map 72. The McCain shape file was then merged in ArcView 3.2 with the existing Forest Legacy file and a new shape file was created. The projection for the new shape file was defined in ArcGIS, ArcToolbox. The file was then displayed in ArcMap and exported to a new shape file in order to create a prj file.20041013Each parcel was checked against the most current tax record data using the Maryland Department of Planning(MDP) MD Property View.
